Help Us Speak to the Tech Community

Help Us Speak to the Tech Community: "

Many consider South by Southwest (SXSW) to be the best interactive media conference in the world, bringing together some of the most influential people in technology (Facebook, Google, etc.). And this year, we could have the opportunity to speak at SXSW and share some of the exciting things God is doing in the Church today—but we need your help. Panels at SXSW are chosen partly based on popular vote, so…

Vote, and then help us spread the word! The deadline is tomorrow, September 4.

You can vote for SXSW Interactive to include sessions that will share what we’re learning collectively about leveraging technology to reach our culture. LifeChurch.tv is teaming up with several other ministries to share this vision, and if enough of you vote, we have a good chance of getting these church panels picked. Here’s how:

FIRST STEP

Create a free profile for voting at http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/users/register (an email confirmation will be sent)

SECOND STEP

Vote today for the church panels by clicking the “thumbs up” icon located near the top left of the following four pages:

While many might think that an outdoor clay oven is a bit Medieval, for Kevin and Donna Philippe-Johnson, their homemade $100 clay oven helped them through some tough financial times. The couple turned this self reliant baking technique into a modest business. ...Read the full story on TreeHugger

The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership - John Maxwell - The Law of Process

The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership - John Maxwell - The Law of Process: "Leadership Develops Daily, Not in a Day

Spend your life building your leadership worth. It can’t be built in a day. The secret is found in your daily agenda. Leadership is complicated. It has many facets: respect, experience, emotional strength, people skills, discipline, vision, momentum, and timing – the list goes on. Leaders are learners. The learning process is ongoing, a result of self-discipline, and perseverance. Build each day on the previous day’s progress.

The four phases of leadership growth:

Phase 1I don’t know what I don’t know
- Try to think of yourself as a leader and then work to become one.

Phase 2
I know what I don’t know
- Recognize that you may not know what you need to know to lead effectively and start learning.

Phase 3
I grow and know and it starts to show
- Recognize your lack of skill and begin the daily discipline of personal growth in leadership.

Phase 4 I simply go because of what I know
- Your dedication to improving your leadership ability on a daily basis begins to pay off and your ability to lead becomes almost automatic.

No matter where you’re starting from in the leadership continuum, you can get better. It really is about daily preparation.

YouVersion comes to Android

If I ever get an Android this will be my first app.

YouVersion comes to Android: "

Recently we rolled out another version of the YouVersion Bible App, and this time it’s for the Android Mobile Phone…also know as the Google Phone. Users of the Android Mobile Phone can download it now for free from Google’s built-in App Store called Market Place. The Bible App includes many of the features found on YouVersion.com like the reader, search, daily reading, bookmarking, and user contributions. Also available for iPhone, Blackberry, and web-enabled mobile phones, the Bible App features 40 different translations and 21 languages. Here’s a quick look at the App on Android:

In just a few days since we released the app, we have already seen thousands of people install it on their mobile phones, and we’re even more excited about the next few months as many more new Android phones come on the market.
